Tournament Rules
The tournament is played with kubb sets from JP’s Backyard Games and operates under a modified version of U.S. National Kubb Championship Rules v4.0:
2-6 Players/Team: Teams may register with a minimum of two and a maximum of six players. During play, teams may substitute players at any time, given that they were originally registered with the team. Each player may only register with one team. No player may throw more than three batons per turn.
30-Degree Throws: For a baseline baton toss to be considered legal, it must be thrown underhanded, with rotation that does not deviate more than 30 degrees from vertical plane. All aspects of baton tossing mirror U.S. National Kubb Championship Rules v4.0.
Neighbor Rule: The Orlando Open Kubb Championship utilizes the “Neighbor Rule” a.k.a. the “Elevated Award Rule” as described in Kubb United’s Rules for Open Play.
“Drop Your Batons” Time Limits: The morning’s non-elimination Qualifying Games have a 25min “Drop Your Batons” time limit, with a “Five Minutes Left” warning announced prior. Every game of the afternoon’s Consolation Bracket mirrors the morning’s time constraints. The best-of-three-games matches of the Championship Bracket have a 90min “Drop Your Batons” match time limit, with a “Five Minutes Left” warning announced prior.
